There are so many questions you may have about EV charger installation. The most important of them are whether you need to get some permits and what other nuances of the procedure to consider.
In this post, we will try to cover most of your questions by describing the stages you need to pass when installing an EV charger. Note, this post is about connecting one or a few charging points to the distribution network. That is to say, here, we do not touch the aspects of connection to the high-voltage transmission network.
First, as your EV charger installer, we visit your place to assess the following aspects:
Note, the procedure is a must not only for installing commercial electric car smart charging stations but for residential installation as well.
If an application to the network operator is required, we assist you in completing and submitting it. Also, we arrange all the electrical works required to upgrade your current power facilities, if necessary. Here, the scope of work may vary from electrical panel replacement to upgrading your cut-out rate and enlarging your power capacity.
Here, the works include running cabling to the fuse box and connecting to the station. To clarify, we mount your device to the designated place and fit it into your power facility. Also, to ensure the safety of your EV charging point, we fit a sufficient circuit breaker switch into your electrical panel.
After that, we test your EVSE to make sure it works as it should and is fully safe for use.
This stage is all about paperwork. Here, we notify your network operator about the new charging point installation. Also, we provide an electrical certificate to verify its safety and compliance with the latest electrical and building regulations.
Though the installation is fully completed, there is one more thing to do. Yes, we are talking about the OZEV grant. To clarify, if you are eligible, you can get a rebate of up to £350.00 per station.
Well, now, you have got a clear idea of what EV charger installation involves. If you still have any questions, feel free to ask our engineers.
