Buy public electric vehicle charging stations

How to use an EV charging station (public)

If you are new to driving an electric car, you may need brief guidance on how to use an EV charging station (public). So, in this post, we provide the public EV charging guide, with some valuable remarks about the use of our EV charging stations.

Download an app

Typically, using public EV charge points requires some mobile app. Through the app, you can search for a charge point, activate and control your session, pay the fees.

At Auto-E, we developed our proprietary app, AutoEco-factor, where you can find full information about our EV station network.

Find an available EV charge point

Nowadays, public EV charging network covers all over the UK. And this is not only about fast development of the EV charging business. Numerous cafés, restaurants, shopping malls, and other businesses buy public electric vehicle charging stations. That is to say, by providing these amenities, they attract more customers.

So, for example, in London, you will not face a lack of options to top up your electric car battery. To search for a station in your destination area, use an app map or enter the exact address.

When using our AutoEco-factor app, you may see different statuses for EV charge sockets or plugs at each exact EV station. Those tagged as “available” are ready for your immediate use. When you see the status “idle”, it means a session is already over, but a car is still connected.

Charge your EV

To start an EV charging session, connect your car with the station:

  • If you opt for an option with a built-in cable, just plug its connector in your car charge port
  • If you opt for an option that provides a socket only, make the connection using your own cable.

At our public stations, to start your charging session automatically, scan a QR code (you will find it right on the station). Or you can start it manually through the AutoEco-factor app. For this, tap the “start charging” button.

Typically, charging is available if you have enough money on your balance. For example, when using our stations, you need to have at least £5. To clarify, this is the minimum charging amount to start with.

In the app, you can monitor your session and stop it when you reach the desired battery level, amount of kW, or sum to pay. Then, unplug your car and have a nice trip!
