EV Charger Installation in North London

EV charger installation in North London from our NW1 base: home, workplace and rapid chargers, 2026 grant advice. Free survey, fixed quote: 020 3393 4113.

EV charge point installed outside a North London home, with an electric car plugged in

Auto E designs and builds EV charging stations in the UK and arranges installation through our authorised partner installer. Our office is at 12 Melcombe Place, NW1, on the Marylebone side of Regent's Park, so North London is our home patch: a survey in Camden Town, Highbury, Crouch End, Finchley or Palmers Green is a short drive, and lead times are correspondingly short.

North London is also where the charging question is most pressing. Haringey says the majority of its households have no off-street parking, Camden is adding at least 500 lamp-post charge points to the 550 it already runs, and Barnet installed 300 street chargers in six weeks in 2025. Public chargers help, but the cheapest, most convenient charge is still your own socket, at home or at work.

What we install across North London

  • Home wall boxes: 7 kW single-phase units for the typical North London house, and 22 kW where there is a three-phase supply. Our wall-mounted 22 kW station (EF AC-WW22M) is £1,449 ex VAT; the dual 2 x 22 kW model (EF AC-W22x2M) is £1,649 ex VAT for two-EV households. See home charging stations and installing a charge point at home.
  • Portable chargers: from £399 ex VAT, useful for tenants and anyone whose parking spot changes. See the portable range.
  • Commercial AC posts and wall boxes: for offices around King's Cross and Euston, hotels near Regent's Park, residents' car parks in Barnet and Enfield, and workshops along the North Circular. Our commercial stations run on our management platform for billing and access control.
  • DC rapid chargers: the Auto E Charging Complex (£23,000 ex VAT before civils and grid connection) for forecourts, depots and destination sites.

Every station carries a 3-year warranty; our repair service covers chargers of any brand.

North London homes and what they mean for your installation

The north of the city is a patchwork of Victorian terraces in Islington, Haringey and Camden, mansion blocks and converted flats around Regent's Park and West Hampstead, and 1930s semis with driveways in Barnet and Enfield. Each changes the job:

  • Semi with a driveway (Finchley, Southgate, Mill Hill, Winchmore Hill): the straightforward case: wall box beside the drive, cable to the consumer unit, usually half a day.
  • Terrace with on-street parking only (Holloway, Tottenham, Kentish Town, Stroud Green): a private wall box needs a legal way to get the cable across the pavement. Haringey is piloting subsidised cross-pavement charging channels (register via [email protected]), and from 1 April 2026 the £500 chargepoint grant covers on-street households using an approved cross-pavement solution. Otherwise the council lamp-post schemes are the fallback: Camden's new units go mainly into resident parking bays, Enfield is putting 1,000 chargers into streetlight columns so every resident is within a five-minute walk of one, and Barnet has more than 1,500 street chargers live.
  • Flats and mansion blocks: the charger goes in an allocated bay or shared car park and needs freeholder or managing-agent consent plus a supply route. Flat owners and landlords qualify for the £500 grant; landlords can claim for up to 200 sockets.
  • Older wiring: pre-war North London houses often need consumer-unit or earthing upgrades first. That is the main reason quotes rise above the typical range.

Every installation is notified to UK Power Networks, London's DNO, and larger loads may need their approval first. We handle both.

Grants available in 2026

  • EV chargepoint grant: worth £500 for every socket installed from 1 April 2026. It is open to renters and flat owners, to landlords for up to 200 sockets, and to households that park on the street once an approved cross-pavement solution is in place, which is why the Haringey pilot matters.
  • Workplace Charging Scheme: £500 per socket, up to 40 sockets, 75 per cent of costs, extended to March 2027 with a digital application from April 2026. Businesses can also claim 100 per cent first-year capital allowances on charge point equipment. Read our WCS guide.

FAQ

How soon can you install in North London?

Because our office is in NW1, surveys in Camden, Islington, Haringey and Barnet are usually booked within days. Where a supply upgrade is needed, the installation date depends on the DNO; we confirm timings at quote stage.

I live in a Haringey terrace with no driveway. Can I have a home charger?

Only with a legal cross-pavement route. Haringey is piloting subsidised charging channels, and the £500 grant applies to approved cross-pavement solutions. Otherwise a portable charger plus the council's on-street network is the practical route.

Can I install a 22 kW charger at home?

Only with a three-phase supply, which is unusual in North London houses but common in blocks and commercial premises. Most homes are single-phase and get 7 kW; a car parked overnight is full either way.

Do you install chargers you did not manufacture?

Installation is for Auto E stations. Our repair service, however, covers chargers of any brand across North London.
